Alan Guth

1947 - Present

Guth developed the theory of cosmic inflation. Winner of the Fundamental Physics Prize and the Kavli Prize, Guth came up with groundbreaking ideas in inflationary theory, discovering why the cosmos is as large as it is. Inspired by a lecture from Stephan Weinberg, on why matter is so dominant over anti-matter inspired Guth to show how precise calculations about particles could be obtained by studying the first few seconds of the universe.
