Katharine Burr Blodgett

1898 - 1979

Scientific researcher & inventor of invisible glass which was put to use in many consumer products from picture frames to camera lenses as well as for optics.

In 1926 she became the first woman awarded a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Cambridge. Her invisible glass was first used for perfectly clear cinematography in the film Gone With the Wind.
