Rachel Carson

1907 - 1964

Having spent her early career as a marine biologist Carson published her book, Silent Spring in 1962. It warned of the dangers of pesticides and chemicals to humans, plants, and animals. Her book is often attributed to advancing the environmental movement in the 1960s.
